Tallent, Charles William (Charlie) age 67 of Fountain City, went home to meet Jesus on December 14, 2013 after an 8 week courageous battle which now he isn’t suffering and in no pain, no more tears. He is finally at home in perfect peace with his mother and father. Charlie was a graduate of Central High School class of 1964 and attended Knoxville Business College and National Business College. He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Charles career started with his first job at Mississippi Missile Test Facility, he also worked for Black and Company and Hamilton National Bank of Fountain City, Container Corp (Smurfit Stone), and retired from Public Building Authorities of Knox County at the City County Building in 2008. Charlie never met a stranger and was liked by everyone. He was known as a landmark at the information desk at the City County Building and would always greet you with “How ya doin?”. He dearly loved racing and drag racing, and greatly admired Dale Earnhardt. He loved cars and built a 1956 Blue Chevrolet Bel Air named Myrtle which many will remember.
Preceded in death by parents Bessie Pauline Summitt Tallent and Charles Lemuel Tallent and infant grandson Austin Tallent. Left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted daughter Tanya Tallent Gutridge who was there by his side thru all of his last days of sickness to the end, sons Charles Christopher Tallent, Michael William Tallent and Wife Christy, grandchildren Kayla Ann and Tyler Clay Gutridge, Justin Michael Tallent, Kadyn and Nevaeh, brother Ed Tallent and wife Diana, former wife and mother of his 3 children Judy Tallent Newlin. The family would like to thank all the following people for all their help through this sickness: The Nursing staff at UT Medical Center 9 East, especially 3 loving people Fran RN, Jessie and Jason. Beverly Park Place, the main back Hall, all staff and nurses. Friends may call at their convenience Wednesday from 12-5pm at the Lynnhurst Greenwood Chapel. Family and friends will meet Thursday at 12:45pm in the Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 1pm interment service with Pastor J. David Hester officiating.
