Charles (Chuck) Silvey, age 88, of South Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Beverly Park Place Nursing Home. He was born February 3, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to Frank Silvey and Rella Mueller. He was a member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church. Chuck proudly served in the United States Marine Corps in Guam, Okinawa, and China during World War II. He was a life member and Hall of Fame member of the Knoxville, Tennessee State, and Southeastern Bowling Associations. He retired from the Knoxville City School System and the University of Tennessee Physical Plant. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna Jean Silvey; daughters, Sarah Silvey and Sondra Cash; son, Charles Silvey, Jr.; grandchildren: Jerry Snyder, Jr. and Sarah Kerley; brothers: Richard and Elmer Silvey; He is survived by his daughter, Rella (Dennis) Jones; grandchildren: Paul Kerley and Rebecca Ratledge; special granddaughter-in-law, Paula Snyder; great-grandchildren: Jeremy and Jessica Snyder; Reagan and Aiden Kerley, Trent Kerley, Bill Pope and Lance Ratledge; sisters-in-law: Bertha Stanley and Barbara Lee; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway on Saturday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Family and friends will meet at Shiloh Cemetery in Pigeon Forge on Sunday at 2:30 PM for graveside services, Rev. Richard Richter officiating.
