Charles E. Payne, age 77, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at home. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a long time business man and a Certified Public Accountant. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Preceded in death by parents, Sam and Margaret Payne; brothers, W.J., L.D., and Abe Payne; sister, Lena Jo Rhymer. Survived by wife of 41 years, Jean Payne; children, Michael Payne and Michelle Sullinger; grandchildren, Mikaella, Alissa, and William Sullinger; sisters, Elizabeth Chadwell and Beverly Kington; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Saturday with the funeral service to follow at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Dr. Family and friends will meet Sunday at Greenwood Cemetery for the 2 pm interment.
