The world lost a good one today. He fought a 3 year battle with multiple illnesses with such a positive outlook.
Born on December 19, 1953, to Doug Sr. and Sue Morehead, Doug was raised in Memphis, TN, and then in Nashville, TN. He started his career in the plumbing supply industry at only 14 years of age, and diligently continued over the next 56 years. Illness forced him into retirement or he would still be working because his work was his passion. He earned Salesman of the Year honors so many times that we lost count. He genuinely loved people which helped him excel in his career. He had a wealth of industry knowledge and devoted customers called on him from all over the country seeking his advice.
He was an avid bear hunter for over 30 years and he adored his hunting family. His love of dogs was legendary. His wife was smart enough to never ask him to choose between his hunting dogs or her because she knew who would win out!
That man sure could tell a story and he leaves behind a world of friends and family to cherish those memories. Some of the stories were true, some were embellished a tad, and some we are not quite sure of to this day. He looked forward to Tuesday afternoon gatherings at Bill's. His lifelong friendship with Ted and Cheryl Addison meant the world to him. He always said, "I have a good woman, a good dog, and good friends, and that is all a man needs." He looked forward to visits from his sisters, Sandi and Libi, as they were so dear to him.
Special thanks to the staff and friends at DCI (Dialysis Clinic, Inc.) in Maryville, TN, and the staff at Interventional Radiology at UT Hospital for their sincere kindness and compassion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Doug Sr. and Sue Morehead; mother-in-law, Barbara Crawford; and brother-in-law, Ricky Athey.
Doug leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Pat; sisters, Sandi Athey and Libi Maniace (Vince); sister-in-law, Becky Roberts; 9 nieces and nephews, and 16 great nieces and nephews.
Although he was deeply spiritual, no service will be held at Doug's request. In lieu of flowers, adopt a dog, go fishing, play a round of golf, shoot pool, go hunting, or just raise a glass to a good man. He will be greatly missed.
Online condolences may be left at www.berryfuneralhome.com for the Morehead family.
