Maples, Charles Larry (Shag)- passed away peacefully on April 2, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. Larry was born July 13, 1955 to George Howard and Della Rose Maples. He graduated from Powell High School in 1973. He was drafted by the Saint Louis Cardinals Baseball team in 1973 to play for their farm league, the Sarasota Cardinals. After his time in Florida, Larry began a career in Printing. He worked for Rugby Associates, Keith Press, Precision Litho, Blue Ridge Printing and Burns Mailing and Printing, where he retired from.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and niece, Brittany.
He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 28 years, Cherish; children, Michelle (Jason) Emitt, Lori (Ryan) Delph, Amber Miller, Lauren Smith, and Tyler (Kinlee) Maples; 11 grandchildren; brother, Tony (Lynda) Maples; sister, Lisa (Charlie) Sanford and loving in-laws, George and Carole Gregg; several nieces and one nephew, along with many other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 5:00pm-7:00pm with a Celebration of Life service to follow at Harvest Pointe Church, 7419 Ball Camp Pike, Knoxville TN 37931.
The family would like to thank UT Cancer Institute, UT Medical Center, UT Hospice and the nurses on the 4th and 9th floors for their compassion and care.
