Widener, Carolyn McCoy, age 78, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 at home. Member of Lincoln Park Methodist Church. She was an apartment manager at Broadway Towers, and former Knox County Recreational Director. Preceded in death by father, Charles McCoy; mother, Louise McCoy; beloved husband, Gil H. Widener.
Survivors include daughter, Cindy McNutt and son-in-law, Alvin L. McNutt; sons, Steve Widener and wife, Janice, Kenny Widener and wife, Terry, Chip Widener and wife, Hilda; grandchildren, J. P. McNutt and wife, Amanda, Stephanie Widener, Clay Widener and wife, Christy, Jonathan Widener and wife, Ashley, Chris Widener and wife, Alisha, Allison Widener, Nathan Widener and Gil Widener; great grandchild Jackson Gray Widener; brothers, Johnny McCoy and wife, Linda, Dickie McCoy and wife, Ann, Jerry McCoy and wife, Deborah. Thanks to Amedysis Hospice nurse, Jamie and our family at Knoxville Firefighters Credit Union. Special friends, Barbara LaRue and Sheila Rumoro. Special thanks to caregiver Rachel Shields who so lovingly cared for our mother in the last years of her life.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Saturday . The funeral service will be at 7 pm at the Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with Rev. Ron Bright officiating. Family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery at 1:45 pm Sunday for a 2pm interment service. Pallbearers will be grandsons and Alvin McNutt.
