Carol, as she was always known, was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on January 20, 1946 to U.L. and Neva Norris. She met her husband, Ken Baker, in 1964. On the day he proposed to Carol in October 1965, Ken was drafted for the Vietnam War. He gave Carol the option to go on with her life or continue to marry him. Carol chose Ken and they were married on January 4, 1966. After their marriage they were stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia for four months prior to Ken going to Germany with the Army. Carol then returned to Englewood, Tennessee and lived with Ken’s parents until he returned from service in October 1967. While Ken was away, Carol welcomed their only child, Kenny on January 7, 1967.
Upon his discharge from the Army, Carol and Ken moved to Knoxville where they made their life. Carol worked in sales and caregiving her entire life. Her passion was her grandchildren and she also enjoyed antiquing, horses, boating and camping. Carol was of the Baptist faith.
Carol is survived by her husband of 54 years Kenneth (Ken) Baker; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Ashley Baker and her grandchildren Ella and James. She was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Bobby and Burl Norris.
Family will receive friends at a visitation on Thursday, July 9th at Berry Highland Memorial from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at Berry Highland Memorial at 2:00 pm on Thursday with Pastor Dallas Moore officiating. Graveside services will follow at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
