Carol Ann Spurgeon

Carol Ann Spurgeon, age 75, resident of Maryville, Tennessee passed away on October 4, 2022. She was born in Dayton Ohio on July 15, 1947 but spent most of her childhood in Halls, Tennessee. She attended Halls middle school and high school where she graduated. She married Teddy Spurgeon of Maryville Tennessee, August of 1966 after meeting him where she worked at Levi Strauss company. She was the proud mom of Lon and Melinda and the family attended Island Home church of Christ and later Chapman Highway church of Christ and Smoky Mountain church of Christ where she was a member at her time of death. Carol worked at various jobs during her life often as a cashier. She worked at Byrnes drug store in Maryville, SkyCity in Alcoa, and worked several years as the closing cashier for Cracker Barrel in Alcoa. Along with her husband and his family, Carol owned and operated her own business Gateway Greenhouse for many years. Carol Ann was a very faithful Christian, an avid gardener, loved animals especially dogs, and cherished living within sight of the Great Smoky Mountains.

Carol is survived by children Lon Spurgeon and wife Becky; Melinda Spruce and husband Barry; brother David Blazier and wife Joyce; and her pet Pug Fonzy. She is also survived by brother and sister-in-law Benny and Mary Spurgeon and nieces and nephews: Steve May, Roger May, Carl Vineyard, Jeremy Spurgeon, Heather Woods, Eric Spurgeon, Aaron Blazier, Justin Blazier, Jay Blazier, and Angie Brees; also, grandchildren Wesley Spruce and Brianna Kline. She is preceded in death by husband Teddy Spurgeon, parents Harry and Dora Blazier, and brother Glen Blazier.

Funeral services for Carol will be at Berry Highland South off Chapman Highway at 9010 E. Simpson Rd., Knoxville, TN 37920 on Tuesday October 11, 2022 from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm for visitation and 7:00 pm funeral service. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday October 12, 2022 at 11:00 am. Flowers should be sent to Berry Highlands South.
