DOZIER, CAROL DIANE CURTIS , Knoxville, TN. Born- Saturday, May 3, 1947. Died-Saturday, February 1, 2014. She is preceded in death by father, Henry Clay Curtis, mother, Thelma Bailey Curtis and husband, H.M. Dozier. Diane devoted many years of her life to the children and teachers of Knox County after becoming involved as a parent volunteer when her son started school in 1979. She went on to become PTA President at Brickey Elementary, Halls High, and the state of Tennessee. She also served on the national PTA board. Her involvement in education went a step further as she represented District 7 on the Knox County School Board from 1998 - 2006. During that time she was instrumental in securing funding for the new Brickey-McCloud Elementary, expansion/renovation at Halls Elementary, and expansion/renovation of Powell Middle. She attained the Master Board Member designation from the Tennessee School Board Association. During the past 18 years, she worked for the Knox County Clerk's Office, mainly in the Halls office. She retired in December, 2013. Diane has always loved children and enjoyed vacationing with her son. Her favorite pastime was eating out and going to movies with her best friend, Faye Heydasch. Diane was of the Baptist faith, most recently attending Arlington Baptist Church. She is survived by her son - Curtis Dozier, brother - Alan Curtis (wife, Vicky), sister-in-law - Eulene Tidler (husband, David), two aunts - Judy Tallent and Pam Curtis; one uncle Larry Kidwell; two nieces - Ashley Wolard (husband, Ryan), and Ashley Henegar (husband, Matt), one nephew - Michael Honeycutt (wife, Holly), and two precious great nephews Brayden Wolard and Hogan Honeycutt. She is also survived by several cousins, a host of co-workers, and a multitude of friends.The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the wonderful friends and caregivers who have surrounded Diane with love and compassionate care during her illness. The family will receive friends on Wednesday February 5th from 5-8 pm with a memorial service beginning at 8 PM with Rev. Tim Guthrie officiating and Mary Jo Clark, Eulogy. Family will gather at the Lynnhurst Cemetery Thursday at 12:45 PM for a graveside service at 1 pm.
