TURNER, Carl Odra, age 86, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Tennova Residential Hospice. He was the owner and operator of Rocky Hill Barber Shop for 32 years. A true passion in his life was beekeeping. He was a mentor to many other beekeepers. He was actively involved in Beekeepers Associations in Knoxville and the surrounding counties. Odra was named Beekeeper of the Year in Tennessee in 2001. He was a long-time member of West Haven Baptist Church and a special friend to Middlebrook Pike Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Turner and Lillie Mae Turner; sister, Ruby Odom; brothers, E.L. Turner, H.C. Turner, and Troy Turner; daughters, Kathy Strader and Jenny Turner.
He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 65 years, Inez Turner; son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Debbie Turner; son-in-law, Jack Strader; grandchildren, Lindsay and Aaron Turner, Katie Strader; brother and sister-in-law, Kyle and Sandra Turner; sister-in-law, Cartha Turner; several nieces and nephews; many, many friends. He was loved by all and will be missed by many. The family will receive friends at West Haven Baptist Church, 5651 Matlock Drive, Knoxville, 37921, Thursday, 5 to 7 pm, with service to follow, Rev George Gilbert officiating. Family and friends will gather 10:45 am Friday, at Berry Highland Memorial Gardens, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, 37919, for 11 am interment.
