Gene Newman, age 78, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016. He owned and operated Newman Oil Company for several years and retired from Estes Equipment Company. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Lucille Newman; granddaughter, Ashley Newman; and brother, Bobby Newman. Gene is survived by his son, Bobby Newman; daughter Kristi and husband, Robert Patrick; grandchildren: Tyson and wife Stephanie Patrick; Chris Patrick; Andrew Patrick; Kati and husband, Wes Abernathy; great-grandchildren: Tesa and Libby Patrick; and Hallie Abernathy; and fiance Diane Conner. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Rev. Stan Knight officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Alcoa.
