Bill E. Lester

His daughter Karen and her husband Brent were by his side. Bill and his wife Sue were married in 1953 and were together for 68 years. Sue preceded Bill in death in 2022. Bill is survived by his daughter Karen Marquand and husband Brent. Bill had three wonderful grandchildren, Zach Marquand and his wife Catherine and their two sons, Elliot and Dashiell; Chelsea Dickall and her husband Kyle Dickall and their two daughters, Livia and Abigail; and Trevor Marquand. Bill is also survived by his sister Pat Peoples and her husband Jerry.

Bill was born in Knoxville on March 29, 1928, and graduated from Knoxville High. After serving in the Coast Guard from 1945 to 1948, Bill returned home to Knoxville. Bill was employed by Knoxville Utilities Board and retired from there after many years of service. Bill was a loving and kind man to everyone he met and his family was always the most important part of his life. He will be missed so very much as his presence in the life of all who knew him was a comfort and a joy.

A graveside service will be held for family only at Highland Memorial. Thank you to the staff of Autumn Care West where Bill lived for the last several years and to Smoky Mountain Hospice for helping care for him in the last few weeks.
