She loved her family and cherished every moment spent with them. Betty took great pride in her flower beds and could grow anything. She was selfless and always put others first regardless of the sacrifice. Betty retired from Standard Knitting Mill.
She was preceded in death by husband, Carroll Vinsant; mother, Effie Phillips Hammontree; father, Claude William Hammontree; son, Jimmy Bales; daughter, Becky Miller; brother, Bernard Hammontree; sisters: Sarah Daughtrey and Sally Williams; sons-in-law, Joe Greene, Bruce Miller, Chris Long; daughter-in-law, Jan Seay Bales; granddaughters: Tracy McDowell, Stacey Sullivan, Jamie McCarter and great-grandsons, Davie Hurst and Jason Morrison Jr.
Betty is survived by daughters, Judy Greene, Susan Cathy Gibbs, Teresa McCarter; adopted great-grandson, Steven Cunningham; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Monday, February 3, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the parlors of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville. Family and friends will meet at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Hwy, Alcoa, TN 37701 for a 3:00 PM Graveside Service.
