Betty Ann (Gillespie) Combs

Betty Ann Gillespie Combs, age 93, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022. Betty lived in South Knoxville her entire life until moving into assisted living. She was a graduate of Young High School, Class of 1947. She retired from the FBI after 30 years of service. Betty was a member of Lake Forest Presbyterian Church, and was previously a member of Greystone Presbyterian Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Combs Jr., married May 30, 1948; grandson, Benjamin Combs; sister, Ruth Gillespie Heintz; and brother, Charles William Gillespie, Sr.

She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Teresa Terry Combs (Knoxville, TN); granddaughter, Jessica Combs; sister-in-law, Christina Gillespie (Knoxville, TN); great-granddaughter, Lilly Combs (Maryland); nieces, Elizabeth Thomas (Knoxville, TN), Marta Ray (Florida); and nephew, William Heintz (Texas).

Family and friends will meet at 2:45 PM for a 3:00 PM graveside Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UT Hospice, 4435 Valley View Dr, Knoxville, TN 37917.
