Benny was born on May 3, 1939 in Rockford, Tennessee to Mary Parrill Webb and Frank G. Glover. He has one sibling, Brenda Glover Ballard.
Benny graduated from Young High School and following graduation, served in the United States Navy for 4 years as a 3rd Class Gunner's Mate. Benny married Martha Joann on February 17, 1977 and they were happily married for 44 years. Benny retired after 31 years of service as a locomotive engineer with Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a loving husband, father, and “Papaw.”
Benny was a member of Avery Masonic Lodge # 593 in Lenoir City, Tennessee; a previous member of Kerbela Temple A-model unit, a member of Royal Order of Jester, and a member of Coronado Community United Methodist Church in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Benny was predeceased by his parents Mary Parrill Webb and Frank G. Glover.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Joann Glover and his dog Buttons of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. His daughter, Sheree Hamlin and stepchildren Elaine Schmidt, Deborah (Carl) Brucker and Rick (Lisa) Nipper.
Grandchildren: Travis Hamlin, Matthew (Sarah) Hamlin, Ashley (Sean) Taylor, Michael Schmidt, Nikole (Hunter) Thompson, Megan Brucker, Rob Brucker, Kayla (Todd) Bernstein and Kara Nipper.
Great-Grandchildren: Zoiey Hamlin, Ford and Brynlee Taylor.
He is also survived by his sister Brenda Glover Ballard and her husband Ralph and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home at 5315 Kingston Pike in Knoxville, Tennessee 37919. A funeral service, with Masonic ceremony, will follow the visitation at 6:00 pm on Saturday at the Chapel. The visitation and funeral service are open to the public and the family requests that everyone wear a mask. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page at “Highland Memorial Park Funerals and Cremations”.
The family will hold a private graveside service.
