Peterson, Ben H. –age 88 of South Knoxville went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 13, 2010. He was a member of Vestal united Methodist Church. He was a 50+ year member of the Masons, serving with the South Knoxville lodge and a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Preceded in death by father, Charles Elmer Peterson; mother, Elizabeth Peterson Widner; sisters, Ann Vineyard, Florence Bright, Reba Rollins; stepsisters Doris Mayfield, Maribel Lethgo; brothers, Charles Peterson Jr., john Paul Peterson; son, Elmer Peterson and daughter-in-law, Mary Peterson. Survived by wife of 65 years, Vergie Mae Peterson; son, Jesse Peterson; grandson and wife Bobby and Beth Peterson; great grandchildren, Isabelle and Ben Peterson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 7:00 PM with Rev. Bill Adams officiating with Masonic service following. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM prior to the service. Family and friends will meet on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the interment with military honors by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
