Barbara Jean Frye

On April 20, 1932, God breathed life into the soul of Barbara Jean Smelcher. June 14, 1953, she met and married Bill Frye. Together, they raised 5 children, Sheila, Christie, Lisa, Dan, and Michelle. They in turn gave her four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Jared Hefley, Parker Betschart, Amanda Troglen, and Zoe Cruz, gave her treasures only grandchildren give. Aiden Hefley was the final star in her family crown. Jean, a faithful servant to Jesus Christ, shared her faith through the act of loving anyone who crossed her path. Grace, empathy, kindness, selflessness, and mercy were the hallmarks of her existence. On July 9, 2017, she departed this earth and returned home to her creator. She joins her husband, Bill, her father & mother, Robert and Pearl. She celebrates with her sisters, Lois, Peggy “Jo”; her brother, Leroy and many relatives. Her remaining siblings, Robert Smelcher and Patsy Burress Ducker, join the family and invite you to celebrate her life on Friday, July 14, 2017. The family will receive friends at Mt. Olive Baptist Church on Maryville Pike from 5:30p.m.until 7:30 p.m. with a celebration of life to follow, Rev. Doug Bannister officiating.
