Annice Johnson Burnett “Mamaw Bill”, age 86, of South Knoxville, passed away May 19, 2010, at Parkwest Hospital. She was a Young High School graduate of the Class of 1944. She was a floor lady at Kress Department Store prior to beginning a business with her husband Jay Burnett. They established Jay Burnett Excavating Company in 1951, and she was co-owner until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Stock Creek Baptist church and active in the Sunshine Group and a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved gardening, traveling (went to all 50 states) and was an AVID U.T. fan. Preceded in death by husband, Jay Burnett, step daughter, Annette Brown and parents, Meno and May Patty Johnson; brothers, Hythen, Helbert, Cloyd Johnson; son-in-law, Doug Morell. Survived by daughters and son-in-law, Cappy and Danny Jett, Konda Burnett, Karla Shell; sisters; Edna Deaderick, Regina Burnett; brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Helen Johnson; sister-in-law, Stella Johnson; grandchildren, Rusty and Shannon Satterfield, Brandon and Tera Morell, Bryan and Summer Delius, Damon and Teia Morell, Danielle Jett Laguerre; step-grandaughters, Bridget Brown, Deirdre Clayton; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Alyssa, Daunte, Vanessa, Emma, Brelan and Alana; several special nieces and nephews. Special friends, Kay Hollingsworth, Linda Payne, Beryl Knight; caregiver and friend, Melissa Waggoner. Special thanks to Dr. Daniel Ibach and his staff and Dr. Robert Beam. Funeral will be at 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Stock Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Charles Burnett, Rev. Elbert Deaderick, Jr., and Rev. Gene Wood officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at Highland South Cemetery for Graveside Services. Pallbearers are Danny Jett, Rusty Satterfield, Brandon Morell, Damon Morell, Bryan Delius and Steve Williamson. Honorary pallbearer is Russell Deaderick. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Stock Creek Food Pantry at 8106 Martin Mill Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920.
