CLOYD, ANNA SHEATS – age 93, passed away March 12, 2012. She was born January 26, 1919 in Trinity, AL, the first of 5 children born to Baker and Grace Sheats. She spent her early life in Decatur, AL. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Florence State Teachers College, where she earned a degree in education, and met the love of her life, Will John Cloyd. They were married in 1946, and moved to Knoxville, TN. She was a long-time resident of Jefferson City, TN where she taught at Jefferson Elementary School until her retirement. Following her husband’s death, she moved to Shannondale Assisted Living Center where she was known for her gentle courtesy, loving smile, and beautiful clothes. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and a very proud great grandmother. She was also an avid bird watcher, bridge player, and flower gardner. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Jefferson City, where she was active in the Wells-Mims Class and the Keen Agers. She was preceded in death by parents, Grace and Baker Sheats; brothers, John and Marel Sheats; and husband, Will John Cloyd. She leaves behind sisters, Murel Royer, and Vivian Stone; son, John Cloyd of Las Vegas, NV; and daughter Krista Cutshaw of Powell, TN; grandchildren Jennifer Perez, Julia Payne, and Kristy Cloyd; great grandchildren Kaylee and Isabel Payne. Family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00-11:00 am at Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur, AL, with service to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow service in Roselawn Cemetery.
