Alvin Ray Gilliam Sr.

Alvin Ray Gilliam, Sr., age 71, of Knoxville, TN passed away peacefully Friday April 25, 2025. Alvin was a mechanic at Sonny’s Auto Repair. He was an old car enthusiast. He enjoyed relaxing with a smoke and a good cold drink. He loved God and his family. He wanted the ones he loved to be blessed and would write Blessings down on paper to give them. He especially enjoyed having family meals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby William and Gladys Opal Gilliam; son Alvin Ray Gilliam, Jr.; brothers, Bobby Lee Gilliam and Lonnie H. Gilliam; sisters Gladys A. Reeser, Brenda S. Lyons and Linda L. King.

He is survived by his son, Robert Gilliam; grandchildren, Gage and Devin Gilliam; brother, Jesse Gilliam and wife Katherin; sister, Shirley Hurst; and many other loved ones.

A visitation for Alvin will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Berry Highland South, 9010 E. Simpson Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM officiated by Charlie Reynolds. Interment service will be private. Condolences may be offered at www.berryhighlandsouth.com.
