Curtis, Alva Jean 88 of Knoxville, TN passed away peacefully Thursday, April, 29, 2021 after a lengthy battle with Frontotemporal Dementia. Jean was a giving friend who would often invite her coworkers over for family meals and frequently contributed to those in need. She retired as a LPN from St. Mary's Memorial Hospital after 27 years of service. Jean loved to travel with family and friends, especially to the ocean. She enjoyed all of her pets through the years.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Edward F. Curtis; sisters, Patricia Ball and Sandy Pope; granddaughter, Jessica Brannon. She is survived by her four loving children, Fred (Jeanette) Brannon, Eddie (Tina Gregory) Brannon, Sharon (Larry) Flair, and Charlotte Curtis; grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) Brannon, Charlie Brannon, and Maggie Brannon; great granddaughters, Tatum, Keegan, and Sydney Brannon; sister, Rosa Blaylock; brothers, Jim (Wanda) Knox and Tommy (Beverly) Knox; and a tribe of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank special friend, Cathy Bridges, Jean's loving caregivers at Sycamore Trace Assisted Living in Kingston, TN, her care team at Amedisys Hospice as well as her previous care family at the Webb House in Smithville, TN.
Family will host a reception for all family and friends Monday, May 3rd from 11am-1pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 1pm-2pm in the Chapel of Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral service following at 2pm. Dr. Jeff Sledge officiating, to include Curtis Cousins “Memories of Aunt Jean” by Malinda Curtis Fortner. After the funeral service, there will be a procession to Greenwood Cemetery on Tazewell Pike for the interment. Jean’s pallbearers will be: Greg Tinker, Will Curtis, Jason Brannon, Charlie Brannon, Mike Devin, and Maggie Brannon.
