Wood, Alan D., age 71, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011 at UT Hospital. He was a member of Martel United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. Alan was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 13, 1940. He earned his BS Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Tennessee graduating in December of 1962. He married Pat King on January 17, 1962. He began his career with Robertshaw Controls working for five years, then moved to K-25, then Y-12 in Oak Ridge retiring in 2002 with thirty four years of service. His hobbies included tennis, fishing, and walking the fields looking for relics. He was a local musician since 1957 in numerous bands. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Stanley Wood and Ruth (Morton) Wood. He is survived by his wife of forty nine years, Pat Wood; children: Jeff (Karen) of North Carolina; Don (Margaret) of Knoxville; Ken of Knoxville; and Jennifer (Michael) of Knoxville; grandchildren: Nichole, Josh, Stephanie, Emma, Caleb, Noah, Shelby, Grace, Lucas, and Porter; great-grandchild, Jeremiah; brother, Gerald Wood of Louisiana; and many, many pets.
