Carter, Addie Mae Sands, November 6, 1923 - October 2, 2017 of Knoxville, TN. Preceded in death by her husband, Archie F. Carter; son, Jack F. Carter; grandsons, Gregory S. Ford and Todd K. Ford. Survived by her daughter, Jean D. Ford and second daughter, Phylis Segroves of Knoxville; granddaughter, Chloe Carter Martinez and husband Chris of Chattanooga; grandsons, Jeffrey Carter and wife Arial of Minneapolis, MN, Dylan Bailey and Abbey Bailey of Knoxville; great-granddaughters, Jordan Ford, Greenville, TN, Carter Martinez, Chattanooga, Wren and Tatum Carter of Minneapolis, MN; special and dear friends, Bobbye Smith and Wilma Belitz. Visitation will be held Thursday at Weaver Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 pm. Graveside service will be held Friday, 11:00 am at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. Pastor Rick Lemons officiating. Addie was a lifelong and dedicated member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She resided at the L&L Home Care in Farragut, TN and the family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff for their total loving care and support. Addie will be remembered for her most gentle, warm smile and sense of humor. Addie, Miss Addie or Nana, as she was known to many, was a friend to everyone and welcomed family, friends and anyone in need into her home.
