He will be dearly missed by his sister-in-law Marilyn Near. For over 30 years, Marilyn has been by Shorty's side as his constant support and friend. Dear brother of Sherry Marsden (David). Predeceased by his parents Wilton and Hannah Near and his brothers Wilton and Harold Near.
Shorty retired from Weston Bakery after 37 1/2 dedicated years of service. He enjoyed his daily walks to Timmy's for a coffee and a donut.
His family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for the care provided by the nurses and staff at Winston Park, especially by his dear friend Bonnie Benoit.
Cremation has taken place and a private time of remembrance has been held by the family. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations would be appreciated to the CNIB Foundation, 1929 Bayview Ave., Toronto, ON M4G 3E8.
