Passed away with dignity and grace at the Westmount Nursing Home in the early hours of Saturday morning, after a courageous journey. Norman was born in Brantford, Ontario where he met and married his childhood sweetheart, Grace (Dungavell) who has been his constant companion, best friend, and support for 60 years. Predeceased by his mother Eva (Brown) and his father Howard. He is also survived by his sister Mildred Macaulay and nieces, Debbie Crump and Susan Hogenkamp. Lovingly remembered by his three children Sandra DiMascio (Tony), Howard (Debbie) and Gordon. Cherished Grandfather to Jon (Jenn) and Mike. Special friend to Ruth Sims of Brantford. A highly respected and esteemed member of the community. Norman was greatly involved with his faith through St. Andrews Presbyterian Church of which he was a member and elder for over 40 years. An avid bowler, Norman played with the St. Andrews bowling league until his 80th year. He was also a respected Past Master of the Reba Masonic Lodge in Brantford. Norman was employed by Inter City Welding supplies where he worked for over 35 years. Norman will always be remembered for his straightforward approach, gentle manner, warm smile, and his exceptionally kind heart. He was a friend to anybody in need, a mentor to those who needed guidance and the admired provider of a family who will always love him dearly. The family wishes to express their gratitude and sincere thanks to the second floor staff at The Westmount Nursing Home who provided Norman with loving care and support during his final year. Visitation for Norman will be held at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa St. S in Kitchener on Tuesday, January 8th from 2pm until 4pm as well as 7pm until 9pm. The funeral will be taking place Wednesday, January 9th at St. Andrews Presbyterian church, 54 Queen St. N in Kitchener at 11am.
