A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO CINDY, JAMIE AND JONATHAN FOR ALL YOUR LOVING CARE OF DAD THRU THE LAST FEW MONTHS ALLOWING HIM TO BE AT HOME WHICH GAVE HIM THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE WHERE HE WANTED RIGHT UP TO THE END. ALL OUR LOVE.

When I was two years old my family moved into the house right across the street from the beloved Melvin Weiss. Through the years I have become a part of the family as he became a part of mine. I have so many fond memories. Heather, Trish, my sister Jessica and myself would go over to his house, say hello and go downstairs to play. Right when you came down the stairs, the first room on the left is where we use to play "house". There was even that chalkboard for when we wanted to play "school". Or I would go over say hi to mom (Cindy) and to gramps and they would be so into the Blue Jay's game - He loved the Blue Jay's. I remember going over for those family gathering. Or how he use to always drink that no name cola from Zehrs, even to his last weeks. The last few years he had been through so much, yet he always stayed strong! He always maintained his humour! That first scare he gave us at the end of June, he came outside on the stretcher and waved to the neighbors. He told his family later that the neighbours must thought he was crazy waving when being wheeled out on a stretcher! Melvin Weiss was such a great man. He touched so many hearts and we are who we are because he touched our lives. I am proud to say I knew him. I love you grandpa! xoxo All the best to the family.

My thoughts and condolences to the whole family. Mel was an amazing man and I'm glad I had the chance to meet him. May you rest in peace.

I'm so very sorry to hear of Mel's passing. It was always a pleasure to look out my living room window and see Mel sitting on his porch or throwing the Frisbee to Jade. He will be missed very much.

I hope that the sadness will pass quickly and be replaced with the many fond memories you've made together.
