Leszek Pitek

Passed away unexpectedly at home with his wife by his side on Good Friday 2023. Beloved husband to Alicja. Dearest father to Ewa (David) and Elzbieta and her husband James. Grandfather to Oliver, Conrad, Clara.

Leszek was born on Good Friday 1955 to Zofia and Kazimierz in Kielce, Poland. In 1987, he and his wife and daughters left Poland and, via Germany, settled in Kitchener, Ontario in June 1989.

With a long career as an Electrical Engineer, Les was very involved in the Association of Polish Engineers in Canada. Through this association, he maintained many close friendships with Engineers and their families who he valued dearly. Leszek was a dedicated employee at Applied Automation, followed by Meikle Automation and finally at Eclipse Automation in Cambridge.

Left to mourn are his wife, daughters, grandchildren, brother Andrzej and his family, extended family in Poland and Australia and the close friends he made through his life’s journey.

Leszek was a passionate and active member (Board of Directors) with the Cardiac Fitness Association (CFA) in Breslau, Ontario. This facility provided the kind of care and support that enabled Leszek to live two decades longer than expected after a massive heart attack in 2002.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CFA through the website (https://www.cfaheart.com/). Alternately, envelopes will be available for cash and cheque donations to the CFA at the visitation.

Visitation will be held at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre on Tuesday, April 18 from 5-8 pm with prayers at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will take place Wednesday, April 19 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 66 Shanley St. Kitchener.
