Kenneth Leonard Leach

Devoted husband to Lorna Leach (née Boucher) and loving father to his four daughters: Debbie Legault (Paul), Vicky Rodi (Mario), Penny Gibson (Pat) and Kelly Groff (Blair).

Cherished Papa to nine grandchildren: Ryan Gibson (Vicki), Justine Kotler (Andy), Melissa Legault (Jeff), Adam Legault (Brittany), Kelly Rodi, Stephanie Gibson (Patrick), Justin, Braden and Casey Groff.

Special Great Papa to five great-grandchildren: Darrah and Hunter Gibson, Austin & Nicky Kotler and Owen Farrell.

Also survived by sister Margaret Hostler and sister-in-law, Lila Leach, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Meta, and his siblings - Betty Grife, Jackie Leach, Dorothy Irving and Francis Inglis.

Ken, a.k.a. Kenny was raised in Pembroke, Ontario and was a big sports enthusiast, playing hockey and baseball. Ken was a true “Sears” man for most of his career, which took him on many adventures to cities across Ontario and Manitoba. His final career move was to Kitchener-Waterloo, as the Sears Store Manager, where he set down roots, and retired from Sears following a 40 plus year career. In retirement, he worked for St. Jacob’s Furnishings part-time and made lasting friendships with his colleagues and customers. He and Lorna were also avid golfers and spent many fun winters in Florida with friends.

Ken was known for his warmth, approachability and sense of humor. He loved to chat and was genuinely interested in people’s stories and never forgot a name, a face or a date. He took pride in taking care of his pristine yard and enjoyed puttering outdoors. Ken enjoyed country music and dancing and often recruited his family to join him at the Commercial Tavern. Bringing family together was important to Ken and he cherished spending time with his grandchildren - with whom he formed lasting relationships and friendships. Having had four daughters, he enjoyed the camaraderie of having sons-in-law and loved to compete at pool and crokinole with his family. For many years we all enjoyed spending the Christmas holidays with the entire Leach family at the magical “Farm House” in the winter wonderland.

For the past several years, Ken struggled with many health issues, and we are appreciative of the support we received during this time, with special recognition to the many nurses and personal support workers who made it possible for him to live his final days at home in comfort. We would also like to thank Dr. Julia Wilhelm for her support in Ken’s care.

Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life will take place at a future date.
