John Blair

On Sunday September 30th 2012 at the age of 68, John Blair Sr. of Kitchener, Ontario passed away peacefully at home with his family surrounding him after a short but heroic battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife Alison Blair of 46 years of marriage, his two children Elizabeth Blair of Cambridge and John Blair Jr. and wife Ronnie of St. Albert, Alberta. John was blessed with four grandchildren Kyra Bezecny, Katelyn Bezecny, Samantha Blair and Madisyn Blair and a great grandson Owen Bezecny.

John was a long time employee of Uniroyal and BF Goodrich of Kitchener putting in more than 30 years of service. John worked a line that he had done the first tire to be produced on it and then produced the last tire to ever come off that line prior to the shutdown of the plant. He was a loyal worker and gained many close friends while employed there.

The service will be held at Ratz-Betchel Funeral Home on Friday October 5th at 1pm followed by his cremation. Visitation will be Thursday October 4th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A gathering of friends and family afterwards will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion branch 530 in Waterloo at 19 Regina Street North where John has been a member for 15 years.

Memorial contributions to be made in lieu of flowers to the cancer centre at Grand River Hospital where John received top care from all the nurses and doctors. Special thanks to Dr. Jakda for stepping out of his way to care for John.
