Gently in the morning of December 26th, 2012, Jean Elizabeth Schweitzer passed away at Hilltop Manor, Cambridge, in her 90th year. Jean will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by many. She was blessed to have wonderful caring neighbours and friends. She will also be lovingly remembered by her many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was the beloved wife of the late Clifford Schweitzer who died in 1997. They had celebrated 56 joyful years together. Predeceased by her parents, Roy and Bessie Diefenbacher, her mother, died at age 28 when Jean was only 7 years old. Bessie had come to Canada in 1909 as a Home Child at age 6, and Jean spent countless hours remembering her mother and honouring her. Jean will be remembered for her hard work ethic, her love of gardening and cooking, and the joy she experienced being able to remain in her own little home. Relatives and friends will be received at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa St. S. on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Reverend Marilyn Rushton officiating. Private Christian burial will take place at Roseville Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated.
