BUCK, Janet Ermine (nee Pacey) November 15, 1917-November 19, 2011 Janet went to be with her Lord and Saviour, at the age of 94 years and four days, after a lengthy bout with dementia. She was born in Eastnor Township (Lion's Head) to the late Wilbert T. and Mary Ellen (Caudle) Pacey, the oldest of six children, all of whom have predeceased her. Janet resided in Kitchener and Waterloo, after her husband died. She was a resident at Winston Park and The Westmount for the past three years. She was married to the late Carl William Buck of New Dundee for 58 years, when he predeceased her in 1998. She is survived by their daughters, Mary Joyce (Joy) Steffler (formerly Davis), and her husband, Robert (Bob), of Waterloo, and Elizabeth (Bette) Ann McCarthy of Huntsville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dixi (Gary) Robertson of Moncton, NB, Kelly McCarthy of Pefferlow, Patrick (Tracy) McCarthy of Utterson, and a step-granddaughter, Sharon (Tony) Brooks of Kitchener. She had two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Morgan McCarthy of Utterson, as well as step-grandchildren, Dacia Robertson, Daren Robertson and his fiancée, Chrystal Gauthier of Moncton, NB, Leanne Brooks and her spouse, Anthony Schwander, Kitchener, Robbie Brooks, and his friend, Ashley Frey, Baden, and Melanie Brooks, Kitchener. Two step-great-great-grandsons, Michael and Noah Schwander. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Eileen Pacey and Gladys Buck of Kitchener. She was predeceased by brothers Thomas, Wilbert and Almer Pacey, and his wife, Edith, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Gertrude and Earlmont Poth and Beatrice and Morgan Nixon. She was also predeceased by her husband's parents, John and Elmina (Lautenschlager) Buck, and by sister and brothers-in-law, Greta and Elmore Young, Gladys and Dave Scott, and Edgar and Mary Buck. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Janet was a partner in Hillside Poultry Farm & Hatchery in New Dundee, started by her husband, and then in Birch Glen Cottages in Baysville, where many people who vacationed there annually became dear friends. She was a member of the New Dundee Baptist Church, and was a Dominion Life Member of the Baptist Women's Mission Society of Ontario and Quebec. She was treasurer of the local Mission Circle at the church for over fifty years, and was always willing and happy to help out where and when she could whether it be quilting, cleaning the church, or collecting for the annual yard sale on the May holiday weekend. She also got a ten-year volunteer award from the Region for her work with the Parkinson Foundation. Janet learned needlework from her mother. She was a seamstress, quilter, knitter, etc. She enjoyed taking computer lessons in her senior years, and enjoyed many trips to Europe, Western Canada, California, Alaska, the Yukon and Florida with her daughters in the early 2000's when she was in her 80's followed by shorter trips. A trip to New York City in 2008 was her last. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, on Friday, November 25, followed by a memorial at the funeral home Saturday, November 26th, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul Kowtecky of the New Dundee Baptist Church officiating. A private family committal will take place at the New Dundee Union Cemetery, prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family would be pleased with donations in her memory to the BWMS, the New Dundee Baptist Church, or the Alzheimer Society.
