Ziegler, Hilda – After a long life in her 93rd year on July 23, 2013. Predeceased by her husband Harry Ziegler (2005). Loving to mother to Gwen Davies (Allan), Donna Morton (Mike) and Joseph, Donald, James and Kimberley Ziegler all predeceased. Dearest Grandma of Elana Gibbs, Christopher Crawford, David Wall, Mary Correne Amos and Donald Sullivan. Great grand-mother of many. Hilda is also predeceased by her brother Brian Farmer. Hilda was born in Edmonton, and moved with her mother to Liverpool, England. In 1946 she returned to Canada and later found employment in Kitchener at Mutual Life, her co-worker being Harry's sister. As a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Hilda taught vacation church school, kindergarten class and spent over 30 years looking after children in the nursery of the church. She also assisted at the Weekday Church School supper hours and reflected upon the early years in the old church when approximately 200 children would attend these meals, among them her six adopted children. For about 6 years she was an active worker in the clothing depot, sorting and handing out clothing to needy people. Hilda constantly knit layettes for the ELW or items for her grandchildren and gave new life to broken dolls. In 1999 she celebrated her 50th Wedding Anniversary with Harry, and shared the special day with family and friends at Luther Village on the Park. Hilda really enjoyed her coffee time with friends, movies nights and chapel and bible study where she was proud to live independently, boasting she was the oldest person to live on that side. Often heard, "I've had an interesting life." Memorial Service will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 49 Queen Street North, Kitchener on Friday, July 26th at 11:00 am. Reception to follow. Interment at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to the St. Peter’s T.V. Ministry or directly through Ratz Bechtel Funeral Home at 519-745-9495.
