Graham Donald Baker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Graham Donald Baker. Surrounded by his family, Graham went home to the Lord peacefully on September 10, 2016, too early in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of Janet (nee Johnman); loving father of Cinnamon Gilpin (Jeff); dear papa of Joe Gilpin; and step grandfather of Ben and Julie Gilpin. Graham was the only child of Mary and Donald Baker who have predeceased him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends in Canada, England, and the U.S.

Graham loved cooking, travelling, and classical music, having been a pianist and organist in his earlier years. He joined Dominion Life Assurance Company in 1964, where he had a long and successful career. He became an employee in the systems department in 1967; achieved his FLMI in 1971; became Data Processing Officer and then Data Processing Superintendent in 1974, eventually becoming the Corporate Services Executive and Secretary from 1977 to 1985. He then followed his lifelong dream by opening Baker's Cove Family Seafood Restaurant in 1986, which he operated with Janet until 2005. He was a proud supporter of Junior Achievement and the local community radio station 98.5.

Graham's family will receive relatives and friends for visitation at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900) on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 6 – 9 pm. Funeral service will be held at St. George’s of Forest Hill Anglican Church, 321 Fischer-Hallman Rd., Kitchener, on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
