Eva Nemeth Schuster

Passed away at Columbia Forest Long Term Care on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the age of 93. She was born in Yugoslavia and immigrated to Canada in 1956. Predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Josef (2012). She is survived by her children Helmut and wife Carmen (Waterloo), Joseph and wife Cathy (Kitchener), Gerhard and wife Shelly (Calgary), Eva Marcone and husband Renzo (Kincardine) and her grandchildren Morena (deceased), Christina, Frank, Jo-Anne, Vincent, Lise, Martin, Joseph, Katie, Jennifer, Kristen and 17 great-grandchildren. Eva enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an exceptionally gifted baker, making countless German tortes and other delicious confections for all the family celebrations. Gardening was her pride and joy; having won the Garden of the Year award for Kitchener. She had an extensive interest and knowledge of herbal medicines, always having a home-made cure on hand for various ailments. “Oma’s Medicine” was a must-have staple for the whole family. Special thanks to Amanda and the entire Johnston House staff at Columbia Forest for their constant smiles, exemplary care and ongoing daily encouragement. Visitation will take place at Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home, 51 Benton (at Church St.) Kitchener, on Thursday, May 22 from 7-9 p.m. with a private family service the following day and interment at Woodland Cemetery.
