Mrs. Elena Maria Ferraro Giovinazzo

Passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Sunday, November 21, 2010 in her 73rd year, at Freeport Hospital. Elena is survived by her loving husband Vincent (Enzo) and son Michael. Dear sister to Nancy (Doug) Jackett, Michael, Lou (Linda), Rita (Tom) Ariss and Frank (deceased). Elena graduated from UWO with an Honors Language Degree and began a teaching career in St. Thomas, later in Kitchener at St. Mary’s, St. Jerome’s and Resurrection High Schools and was fondly known by her students as Mrs. “G”. Gregarious by nature, she loved the company of family, friends and neighbours. Elena loved parties, entertaining at her home was always the center of family gatherings. She was a great cook, an avid reader and did the daily crossword and sudoku puzzles. Elena was dearly loved and will be lovingly remembered and missed by her family and friends. Visitations will be held at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home at 621 King Street West, Kitchener on Thursday November 25th, between 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church at 56 Duke Street West, Kitchener, with Fr. George Nowak C.R. officiating. Cremation to follow with interment at Williamsburg Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Grand River Regional Cancer Center greatly appreciated.
