SCOTT, Dorothy, Elizabeth (nee Hosking); She died peacefully early Sunday morning at home September 30, 2012 after having spent the day surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born June 19, 1926 in Alma, Ontario. When she was two the family moved to Hamilton and later to Elora where she grew up. Life offered Dorothy many challenges which she met with incredible strength and grace, including surviving polio at the age of nine. Dorothy excelled at school and was especially fond of reciting stories in church. As recently as last week, she was still able to recite the alphabet, backwards. A tragic moment for Dorothy’s family was when she lost her daughter Karen Lynne in May of 1972 at the age of 13. She is now reunited with her in heaven. Predeceased by her parents John and Mabelle Hosking, sister Shirley and brother Richard. Dorothy will be missed by her sister Judy. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 63 years Grant W. Scott. They were married in Elora August 6, 1949, children Elizabeth (Alex Bilas), Ken, Jeff (Udi Scott), Janine (Tom Anderson) and Pamela (Kevin Hogan); grandchildren Nathan, Ryan, Adam, Kerri, Brad, Richard, Sarah, Stephanie, Susi, Meghan, Sean, Brian, Katie, Scott, Zachary and great grandchildren Aurora, Viviene, Chantal, Lilly, Kaleb, Eli, Asher, Kieran, Olivia, Emma, Hannah and Nora. Visitation will be at the RATZ-BECHTEL FUNERAL HOME, 621 King Street West Kitchener (519-745-9495) on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. The Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Reverend Mark Gedcke, of Calvin Presbyterian Church officiating. In memory of Dorothy’s life, donations may be made to Calvin Presbyterian Church’s Karen Lynne Scott Memorial Fund or St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation.
