Dolores was born and raised in Kitchener where she attended Kitchener Collegiate
Institute and then went on to graduate from Waterloo Lutheran University with a B.A. in
Math and Business in 1972. After her schooling, she was an employee of Uniroyal from
1947 to 1986 where she was an executive secretary until she retired at 57. Although
she had no children of her own, she gave all her love to her nephew and niece and their
families. She would always find time in her busy life to be with friends, volunteer, and
travel. Travelling was one of her passions, whether it was a ski trip, a cruise, or a visit
to the cottage. Dolores was very active in her community. She was a faithful member
of St Matthews Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for many years. Helping
out with activities and committees at church brought fulfilment to her life. Her love of
music was shown through volunteering to play the organ and piano both at church and
at Sunnyside Long-Term Care Home. She was an avid member of Chicopee Ski Club
where she enjoyed many years on the slopes and made memories to last a lifetime with
friends and family. While there she volunteered as a Ski Friend around the club.
Dolores was very independent, residing in and maintaining her house on Krug Street,
skiing, and golfing up until a few years ago. She lived her life to the fullest, participating,
making friends, and even playing piano at Sunnyside right up until her passing.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the Chaplain and Nursing Team at
Sunnyside for their prayers, care and compassion.
Family will receive friends at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa
St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900) on Saturday, February 5th for a funeral service at 3:00 p.m.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Dolores will be buried at St. Peter’s
Lutheran Cemetery.
