

Dineen, Daniel Joseph: At his residence, Columbia Forest Long Term Care in Waterloo on Friday, March 13, 2015. Beloved father of April (Dolan) of Waterloo and Brendan his wife Paula (Robinson) of Bolton. Cherished granddad of Liam and Eric Dolan; Jameson Dineen.Sadly missed by Joanne Dineen. Brother to Tim (Donna); Gloria (and Tony Becker) and Katherine. Predeceased by his sister Patty and her husband Don. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and his extended family. Daniel was a very social being, a great story teller and was always looking for someone who would lend a willing ear. Was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for over 45 years. A three time Knight of the Year recipient for his dedication to visiting the infirm and alone. He was also a past Grand Knight of the Kitchener Knights of Columbus and held many executive roles throughout his service to the Knights. He will also be remembered for his unrelenting passion of the game of squash and his enthusiasm for hockey, particularly the Montreal Canadians or any team that namesake Kevin Dineen was involved with. Daniel retired is 2009, as an insurance broker from Pioneer Insurance Brokers. In his youth Daniel was an honorable member of the Royal Canadian Navy, stationed in Halifax where he served for 6 years as a navy medic. Daniel's family will receive relatives and friends at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, ON N2G 1C7 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Monday March 16, 2015. Knights of Columbus scripture service will be held at 8 pm. In Celebration of Daniel and his proud Irish heritage, a Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, St. Patrick's Day, March 17 at 11:00 am. at St Anne's Catholic Church, 268 East Ave., Kitchener, ON N2H 1Z4. The family wishes to thank the many friends and family for their support and prayers, as an expression of sympathy, donations to the Terry Fox Foundation or St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, through the funeral home, would be appreciated by the family.
