Robert is a Korean War Veteran, serving in the US Army from 1953 to 1957. In his early years after the military Robert worked as a teacher and in finance. Later in his career he worked as a NYC Transit Authority Bus Operator. Robert was a member of the Word of Truth Christian Ministries, he loved music and to have a good time with his family. In his spare time he enjoyed watching sports, boxing being his favorite.
Robert is predeceased by his father Finletta Pottinger, daughter Sharon (Sabrina), brother Alfonso and sisters Petra, Delores, Delia and Tina. He is survived by his wife Juanita Pottinger, mother Ivanee Allen Rodney, sons Robert Pottinger Jr, Ronnie Pottinger, Steven Pottinger (Maria), Ronnie DeWitt, Anthony DeWitt (Inga) and Glen DeWitt along with his daughters Rhonda Milhouse, Linda Johnson (Barry) and Crystal Johnson. Robert also leaves behind his sisters Lurline Amaya, Shirley Campbell and Emilia Rodney as well as his 26 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Robert's name to the American Cancer Society.
