Born August 23, 1942, in Yonkers, NY, the second of three children of Mildred Elaine Morgan and Eugene “Bob” Booker, Phyllis Booker grew up in a tightly knit family and community called Nepperhan. She attended St Joseph’s elementary school and graduated from Yonkers’ Roosevelt High School in 1960. She enrolled at Central State University in 1960 (nee, Central State College) where she met and later married Levan Watson on November 12, 1961.
Phyllis continued her education in the evenings and received her degree in Early Childhood Education.
Mostly a working mom, Phyllis was on staff at Creative Country Day school in Yonkers for three years before moving with the family to Newburgh, New York where she continued her involvement in pre-school service. Driven by career opportunities for her husband, the family then went through a series of moves to Tucson, AZ, Toronto, Ont, Canada, Wilton, Ct, returned to Tucson, AZ and finally, Atlanta, Ga. During this period Phyllis found her true vocational passion and became a consummate travel counselor beginning with AAA Travel in Westport, Connecticut. With her newly adopted vocation Phyllis traveled the world including Australia, China, Europe, South America, Africa, etc. learning and enjoying the peoples she met. Shortly after her move to Atlanta she became an Independent Travel Counselor running her own business and continuing to do so after moving to Florida in 2005 and until her untimely death.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Levan Watson, her two beloved children, Titov and Leticia, her beloved sister, Laraine Booker. She is also survived by her aunt Eva Morgan Joseph of Florida, her uncle Spencer Booker and aunt Geraldine Delaney both of Yonkers, aunt Fannie Booker of New York, cousins, Abdul Matin, Andrea Morgan-Scarlett, Gina Morgan-Smith, Leonard Morgan, Gail, Tommy, Ricky Booker and a host of family, friends and business associates all over the world.
She will be sorely missed by all who knew her
