John was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy and grandson Matthew. John leaves behind son David, daughter Cindy, grandson Christopher, and great-granddaughter Allison, sisters Ruth, Mary Ann, Betty, and Janet. John also leaves behind several nieces and nephews to love and cherish his memories.
John served in the United States Navy as a corpsman on the aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain. He was a member of the Moose, Elks, VFW, and Masonic Lodges. John earned an Associates Degree in Criminology and was named in Who's Who of Junior Colleges.
John was a Sergeant in the Pennsylvania State Police; he led a Vice Detail for several years before retiring in 1985. After his retirement from law enforcement, he moved to Florida and worked for Holiday Inn as Director of Security. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and watching Pittsburgh Steelers football.
With a heavy and grateful heart I will remember these words Dad always said to me "This too shall pass" with love, Cindy!
