The son of Theodore K. and Mary L. (Meissner) Patterson, Jack was born on September 14, 1946, in
Evansville, Indiana. Jack was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Tampa, Florida in 1964. He held a Bachelor of Arts - Communications degree from Florida Technological University, Orlando, Florida, graduating in 1994. Jack also obtained his Master of Arts in Human Resource Development from Webster University in Orlando, Florida graduating in 1999 and his Master of Business Administration from Webster University graduating in 2000.
Jack worked for WEDU-TV in Tampa, Florida in various production capacities in 1966-1967 and then moved to WE-LA-TV in Tampa, Florida as film editor and assistant film director from 1967 to 1973. Jack then worked at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida as a stage technician, engineering designer and human resources property representative from 1973 to 1994. He then went to work for Osceola County in Kissimmee, Florida as a computer specialist and a project manager for infrastructure and consolidation from 1995 till his retirement in 2009. Jack also taught part time as a
Professor - Business, Computer Technology, Engineering & Public Services at Valencia Community College in Orlando, Florida from 1986 to 1997 and as an Instructor — Technical Education for the Osceola County School Board in Kissimmee, Florida from 1995 to 1999.
He will be sadly missed and is survived by his son, Andrew B. Patterson of Altamonte Springs, Florida; his former wife, Ruth E. Patterson-Grady of Altamonte Springs, Florida; his half-sister, Grace Franklin of East Hartford, Connecticut; his niece, Tiffany Posada of Tampa, Florida, his brother, Kenneth Patterson of Boulder City, Nevada and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Theodore (Ted) Patterson, who died in 1991; his mother, Mary Louise Patterson who died in 2000; his brothers, Douglas Patterson who died in 1957, Joseph Patterson who died in 2000, Dale Patterson who died in 2009 and Kevin Patterson.
Jack's greatest joy came from the times he spent with his loving family. Jack was very proud of his family and especially enjoyed spending time with them. Jack had the gifts of humor and the telling of tall tales. Where ever he ventured laughter would follow. Jack was a loving and devoted husband and father. Jack was a very intelligent, humble and caring soul as his close friends knew. Often, he very quietly and not telling a soul, would offer his help to people in many ways. Jack was well read in so many fields and his knowledge often took his family by surprise, current events, world history, documentaries and the list goes on.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 9th at 11:30am at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida. There are no calling hours.
