Hugh was born on July 19th, 1934, in Bunkers Hill, Jamaica and was the oldest child of father,Joslyn, and mother, Rubina. He is survived by his teenage sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Gertrude. His children;their oldest, Carroll and her husband Terry; his 1st son, Hughie and his wife Lynn; his 2nd son Cary and his youngest daughter, Janet and her husband Brennan and their 2 children, the apples of Hugh’s eyes, Jordan and Efrain. After leaving Jamaica in the 1950’s he immigrated to Great Britain where he and Gertrude raised their 4 children in London; working tirelessly to give them the very best life that they could. They remained in London for 4 decades until their retirement to Florida in the 1990’s.
An avid sports fan, particularly of cricket, football (Soccer) and track & field. He beamed with joy every time he watched the current world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, as he and Hugh were born in the same town in Jamaica. Hugh was a keen follower of politics and a lover of history. A graduate of Knockalva agriculture school in Hanover, Jamaica he worked his garden to the very end of his life.
His favorite roll by far was that of granddad to Jordan and Efrian and he often talked about his deep love and joy for his two grandsons.
He will be deeply missed by all family and friends but the pain will be very deep for his two beloved grandchildren.
His funeral service will be on Saturday, May 2nd, 2015, at 12:00 PM at Grissom Funeral Home, 803 West Emmett Street, Kissimmee, FL 34741.
