Garnet "John" Jones

Garnet “John” Jones, 92, of Kissimmee, FL, Passed away January 14, 2016. He was born in Erie Pennsylvania on June 24, 1923. John graduated from Erie Technical High School. He was married to Mildred Jane Thomas on October 28, 1944. John was in the United States Army Air Corp and served from 1944 to 1946. He was also a computer engineer for IBM. John was a charter member of the Grandview Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, and had a passion for reading, camping, and computer repairing. He was predeceased by his wife Mildred Jane Jones, his parents Leonard M Jones and Ruth U (Garlock) Jones, his sisters Grace Osborn, Gladys Pitroff, Marie Nagel, and his brothers James “Mart” Jones, and Thomas L Jones. He is survived by his sons David Lynn (Roberta) Jones, of Kissimmee, FL and Bruce W (Valerie) Jones, of Springfield, IL. John is also survived by his 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, As well as, his brother David A Jones, of Erie PA, and sisters Winifred Corbin, of Girard, PA, Mary E Shore, of Erie, PA, Ruth (Frank) Copen, of Yuba City, CA, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4pm to 6 pm, with service to follow at 7pm on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Grissom Funeral Home & Crematory. John will be laid to rest with his wife Mildred at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 10:30am.
