Darrell (Mac) McCauley, 76, of Poinciana Florida passed away on June 5, 2015. Darrell was born on March 30, 1939, in Richland Center Wisconsin to Gaylord and Florence (Wilson) McCauley. He attended Beloit Memorial High School and graduated in 1956 from Winter Haven High School in Orlando, Florida. He received a BS in History from the University of Maryland and degrees in marketing and computer programming.
Darrell entered the United States Army in June of 1956 and received Basic Training at Fort Lewis, Washington. His many assignments included: Kingston, Washington; US Army Europe in France; Germany; Romania; Bulgaria; Yugoslavia; and Poland. Darrell also served in Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Darrell completed basic and advanced classes in Veterinary Food Inspection, Senior NCO Academy, and many other technical training courses. He retired from the military in July 1976 as a Sergeant First Class after 21 years of service.
On September 14, 1991, he married Nancy (Genrich) McCauley. During their marriage they lived in Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Troy, Michigan; and most recently Poinciana, Florida. He was a phenomenal cook and baker who thoroughly enjoyed entertaining friends and family. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy McCauley; his children, Darrell (Kim Riley) McCauley, David (Sherry) McCauley, and Douglas (Jennifer) McCauley; his stepdaughter Shelly (Jeffrey) Lauer; his grandchildren, Stacy McCauley, Kyleigh McCauley, Quinlan McCauley, and Matthew Lauer (Aurelian Braun, fiancé); nephew Jeffrey (Cindy) McCauley; niece, Kim (John) DeWindt; sister Dena Levihn; lifelong friend Tom (Rae) Parrish and many other lifelong friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Sam Dagne; his daughter, Paula McCauley; grandson Jason McCauley; and his brothers Dennis and Gerald McCauley.
On June 9th, a veteran’s ceremony was held at Solivita’s Freedom Park in Poinciana. A memorial service is scheduled for June 20th at 11:30 am at St. Patrick’s Church in Eau Claire with visitation beginning at 10 am.
