KISSIMMEE – Connie Sue Devenport Morris, 70, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at home in Kissimmee, Fl. Born May 13, 1953, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Connie was the daughter of the late Jesse Darrel Devenport and Ada Mansker.
A resident of Kissimmee since 1988, Connie took pride in being a homemaker. She also worked locally as an administrative assistant at Poinciana High School and with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes office in Orlando. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Kissimmee. For many years, Connie was the cook for church-wide meals and was widely known for her hospitality and love for serving others.
Connie loved to travel, experience new places and try new foods. She loved her church, her friends, and had a strong faith in her savior, Jesus Christ. It was this faith that sustained her during her nearly four year battle with ALS.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Mack L. Morris, Jr., and their children: Kathryn Evans and her husband John, of Oviedo, Fla., Kimberly Braunschneider and her husband Nick, of Fairfax, Va., and Matthew Morris and his wife Meredith, of Orlando. Connie was extremely proud of her “Baker’s Dozen” grandchildren: Layton Evans, Elijah Evans, Cheney Evans, Nathaniel Evans, Oakley Evans, Gracie Braunschneider, Riley Braunschneider, Asa Braunschneider, Ella Ruth Braunschneider, Truett Braunschneider, Theodore Braunschneider, Benjamin Morris and Madeline Morris. She also is survived by her sisters Millie Mansker and Sherri Mansker, of Orlando, and brothers Darrel “Buddy” Devenport, Jr. and Larry Devenport, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Friday, July 7, at First Baptist Church of Kissimmee, 1700 John Young Parkway, Kissimmee, Fla., with a celebration of life service to follow at 11 a.m. Connie requested that the service truly be a celebration, and wanted her family and friends attending to wear bright colors in her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Team Gleason Foundation, whose mission is to improve life for people living with ALS by delivering innovative technology and equipment, as well as providing and empowering an improved life experience: teamgleason.org/donate/
