Geraldine Edna (Rathgeber) Kidson, beloved wife of the late William Kidson and the late Allan Petterson passed away peacefully in Deer View Lodge, Wawota, Saskatchewan on December 10, 2022 at the age of 91 years.. Geraldine was born in 1931 at Rosthern, Saskatchewan to the late John and Olga Rathgeber, the eldest of nine children. Geraldine spent her early years in Saskatoon and moved to the Wawota area in 1971
Geraldine was a natural artist who enjoyed painting, singing, dancing and playing the violin. Spending time with family and friends and playing an active role in the community was very important to Geraldine.
Everyday pleasures of life brought Geraldine great joy, such as: conversations and laughter, home cooked meals, baking from scratch and tending her garden. Geraldine absolutely loved farming and took great pride in caring for the land and cattle on her century farm.
Geraldine is survived by her two daughters, Shirley Paulson and Evelyn Petterson and their families.
Shirley (Blake) Paulson and their children Cary, Trevor (Sandy), Kalen (Peter) Tierney, Shanna ( Danny) Murphy; grandchildren Tanya (Tony), Meagan, Cody, Kalen, Blake, Shanna, Bryce, Shay and Teagan; great grandchildren Lucas, Lincoln and Jake.
Evelyn Petterson and her children Christine Morrissette, Adam and Erich;
Grandchildren Michael, Lisa and Matthew; great grandchildren Jersey and Ragnar.
Geraldine is survived by siblings Mary Carbert, George (Carol) Rathgeber, Ruth Haday, Judy Prociuk, James (Cheryl) Rathgeber and John (Linda) Rathgeber and her sisters-in-law Mary and Edna Rathgeber.
Geraldine was predeceased by her parents John and Olga Rathgeber; husbands William Kidson and Allan Petterson; brothers Frank and Charles Rathgeber; brothers-in-law John Prociuk, Gordon Carbert and William Haday; grandson Troy Paulson; great-granddaughter Sloan Murphy.
Geraldine will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends.
A celebration of Geraldine’s life will be held in the Free Methodist Church, Wawota, Saskatchewan on May 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with lunch to follow. Interment will take place in the Kennedy Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. Arrangements are in care of Tubman Funeral Home, Kipling, Saskatchewan
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial tributes, in memory of Geraldine, may be made to the Wawota Free Methodist Church, Kennedy Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice.
