Allan George Cross of Kipling Saskatchewan passed away peacefully August 4th, 2020. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin, his presence is deeply missed by his family and friends.
Allan was born September 15, 1938 to Montie and Annie Cross with the birth of his brother Ernie to follow in 1942. He was raised a third generation farmer, working the land alongside his father.
In 1962, Allan met the love of his life Julie (Sostorics). With the love and blessings of both of their families, they wed July 4, 1964. In 1966, their first son Ward was born followed by their second son Warren in 1971. They were blessed with four wonderful grandchildren to love and spoil. Kaitlyn in 1994, Austyn in 1997, Lauren in 2007 and Addison in 2012. In 2018, Allan and Julie were blessed again with the birth of their great-granddaughter Chloe.
Allan was a resilient farmer, with a gentle soul and a warm heart. A devoted family man, he always had time to spend with his children and grandchildren. Allan was skilled and creative, working with metal. He built countless plant stands, arches and other items which were often gifted to family and friends. He took so much pride in his work on the farm. Always up before sunrise, he worked until long after the sun had set. His willingness to adapt to change and new advancements allowed him to continue to grow the family farming operation.
Allan received such a high quality of care from the doctors and nurses at Moosomin hospital. Dignity and kindness were always so evident and so greatly appreciated. A very special thank you to Dr. Roets, who has been primarily responsible for his care over the last 4 and a half years.
Allan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Julie; sons Ward (Crystal) Cross, Warren (Dee Dee) Cross; grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Jordan) Wilson, Austyn Cross, Lauren Cross and Addison Cross; great granddaughter, Chloe Wilson; brother Ernie (Eileen) Cross; brothers and sisters-in-law: Shirley Hurnard, Arlene Sostorics, Ron (Dianne) Sostorics and Lanny (Jean) Sostorics; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Montie and Annie Cross, his in-laws Joe and Helen Sostorics; and brother-in-law Roger Sostorics.
Allan’s family would like you to join them at Landsdowne Memorial Gardens in the Kipling District for a come and go Celebration of Life on August 23, 2020 from 1p.m. to 5p.m. Covid-19 restrictions will be observed. A private family interment will take place.
If friends so desire, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
A life well lived is a precious gift
of hope and strength and grace,
from someone who has made our world
a brighter, better place.
It’s filled with moments, sweet and sad
with smiles and sometimes tears,
with friendships formed and good times shared
and laughter through the years.
A life well lived is a legacy
of joy and pride and pleasure;
a living, lasting memory
our grateful hearts will treasure.
