William Joseph Schindler

Few rivaled William Joseph Schindler, 81, who left this earth for Heaven on Friday, April 26, 2013. He was the best husband, the best dad, the best granddad, the best brother, the best friend, scientist, doctor, researcher, teacher, and bridge partner. He was a man of excellence.

This is not a typical obituary because there was nothing ordinary about this man. “Do what you do with honesty and integrity; do what you love and be willing to do it for free because you love it so much”, was what he taught and modeled his entire life. He valued people; always demonstrating generosity, kindness, goodness, forgiveness and humility. Medical books and scientific journals abound with his writings that have propelled forward the fields of endocrinology, physiology and infertility. He was a genius who held the personal satisfaction of benefitting mankind far greater than monetary rewards. Accolades for scientific discoveries were nothing compared to the peace he testified to receiving at the young age of 70 when he discovered Jesus as his Jewish Messiah. He loved deeply and passionately and will be tremendously missed by much family, friends, colleagues and patients.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife Gail, the sunshine of his life for 41 joyous years. Precious to Bill are his children and grandchildren: Nicole Schindler Cockburn and husband, Robert and their children Lauren Cockburn Hasz and husband David , Danielle Cockburn, Tabitha Cockburn and Gabriella Cockburn, Sammi Schindler and son Khalil Fuller, Marc Schindler and his boys Lincoln Schindler, Darwin Schindler, and Wolfgang Schindler, Cindy Callahan Orman and her children Lindsay Orman, Leslie Orman Wilkins and husband Rhett and Caitlin Orman, and Drs. Steven Callahan and Margaret Waisman. Bill is also survived by his mother, Lillian Schindler and his sister and friend, Sondra Sacks.

The family will receive guests from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, followed by a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. in celebration of Bill’s life, at Kingwood Funeral Home's Chapel, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339.
