Ross was born in Pocatello, Idaho on November 16, 1950 to Leonard and Joffre Stephenson. He grew up in Lava Hot Springs until his family moved to Syracuse, Utah when he was in the third grade. On March 10, 1968, Ross began military service in the US Coast Guard and served as a petty officer in the Reserves until March 10, 1974. Anyone that knew him, knew how proud he was of his time and service with the Coast Guard.
Ross married his high school sweetheart, Sherry Jones Stephenson, on July 11, 1970. They raised two daughters, Candi and Heather, in Houston, TX. Ross had a career in warehousing and transportation and bought his own company, LSI Distribution in the summer of 1995. It became a work of passion and he took pride in all aspects of his work.
Ross was known in his community for his generous and caring nature, and always offered help to anyone in need. He was the first one to jump in his truck and assist anyone that needed it. He truly found happiness in helping his daughters with any project they had on any given day. Ross was most content with a Miller Lite in hand surrounded by his four legged animals. His dogs were undoubtedly the light of his life. He never failed to put a smile on your face with his silly antics and fun jokes. He always was the life of the party.
Ross was preceded in death by his father, Leonard, his mother, Joffre, and his siblings Beverly, Marcia, and Leonard. He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry, daughters and sons-in-laws Candi and Bert Rhodes and Heather and Ben Keating both of Kingwood, Texas. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn and brother Dee. Finally, he is survived by his greatest joys, his six grandchildren Preston, Reagan, and Ashlee Rhodes and Kendall, Cash, and Katelyn Keating.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 in Kingwood Methodist Church (1799 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood, 77339) at 1 pm. Flowers can be sent to KMC or in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in his honor to any local SPCA.
